In November of 1776, four months after the signing of the Declaration, British troops invaded New Jersey at Fort Lee, starting a seven year struggle throughout the state that wouldn’t conclude until 1783.
Throughout the weekend of November 21-22, come witness the 250th anniversary reenactment of the invasion of Fort Lee, and Washington’s “Retreat to Victory” through New Bridge that will lead to the famous Crossing a month later.
Plans are underway at Fort Lee Historic Park: www.njpalisades.org/retreat/
And at Historic New Bridge Landing: www.bergencountyhistory.org/
