Peter Mott House

The Peter Mott House is home to a 19th century freedom fighter who used his house as a stop along the Underground Railroad. This site is unique as a Nurturer and Defender, sheltering those fleeing enslavement and risking it all to do so. Peter and Elizabeth Mott defied the law and stood up for justice by providing shelter, clothing, and food. The New Jersey earned distinction in World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, and conflicts in the Middle East.
